Dance Marathon!!!
Dance Marathon at UF is a student-run annual event that many organizations across campus participate in. All the money raised for DM goes to benefit The Children's Miracle Network to help improve the quality of life for thousands of kids at Shands Hospital right here in Gainesville. The event involves standing (and dancing) for 26.2 hours straight without sitting down. Throughout the event, the kids and families who have benefitted from Children's Miracle Network speak to the dancers and show their appreciation for all of our hard work throughout the year.
Every year, the majority of the brotherhood gets involved in this incredible event whether it be as Dancers, Staff Members, or Team Captains.
Dance Marathon 2011 proved to be a landmark year, as the brothers of Delta Tau Delta (paired with the ladies of Delta Zeta sorority) raised over $70,000 for DM. After a long 26.2 hours, Delta Tau Delta and Delta Zeta received awards for Top Fundraising Team, Top Individual Fundraiser, award and the coveted Miracle Cup for the best overall performance in DM, which includes fundraising totals and spirit points awarded throughout the year. All in all, Dance Marathon 2011 raised over $713,053.68 -- almost $200,000 more than ever before.
